Hossein Mahdavi, born in 1973 in the Iranian city of Amol, is a renowned sound designer and sound editor.

After completing his degree in Electrical Engineering from Rajaee University in Tehran, he further advanced his career by earning a first-class artistic degree from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Mahdavi began his professional journey in film sound design in 1995 and has since worked on numerous films, not only in Iran but also in Tajikistan.

Mahdavi's expertise in sound design has earned him significant recognition throughout his career. One of his most notable achievements came in 2016, when he won the Crystal Simorgh award for best sound at the 34th Fajr Film Festival for his work on the film ‘Lantouri’.

This accomplishment marked a milestone in his career, highlighting his talent and contribution to Iranian cinema.

In addition to his work on ‘Lantouri’, Mahdavi has been honored with several other awards and nominations.

He received the award for best sound for the animated film ‘Silent City’ at the Tehran International Short Film Festival.

Over the years, he has been nominated multiple times at the Fajr International Film Festival and the Celebration House of Cinema.

His nominations include best sound for films such as ‘Restitution’ at the 31st Fajr International Film Festival, ‘33 Days’ at the 29th Fajr Film Festival, and ‘Wake Up, Arezou’ at the 9th Celebration House of Cinema.

Among Mahdavi's well-known works are the TV series ‘Asleep and Awake’ and the films ‘The Third Day’, ‘Paris to Paris’, and ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’.

These projects have garnered significant attention both in Iran and internationally, with several of them being screened on iFilm English TV. His contributions to these productions have played a key role in solidifying his reputation as one of Iran's foremost sound designers.

Beyond his accomplishments in film, Mahdavi has also made a significant impact as an educator.

He has conducted numerous workshops on sound design and film mixing in cities across Iran, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of sound designers.
